The government expects the contractor to begin construction of the pipelines early next year from the Tengiz field (KTL-1, KTL-2).
The first pipeline (213 km) with a diameter of 16 inches will transport 1.6 mln. tons of liquid ethane per year with a GSU with a capacity of 9.1 billion m3 per year.
The second pipeline with a diameter of 12 inches will transport 360 thousand tons of liquid propane per year to the KPI plant. In addition, the pipeline will allow TCO to transport up to 630 thousand tons of liquid propane to Atyrau.
The pipelines will be built near the oil and water pipeline of "
KazTransOil and will be built from more expensive seamless steel for transporting liquid gas under pressure. Also, the project provides for the installation of cut-off valves every 5-10 kilometers to limit the volume of gas losses in the event of a leak or damage to the pipeline.
As for the EPC contract for the construction of the GSU, it is planned that the results will be announced in the near future. Hyundai Engineering, Tecnicas Reunidas and Tecnimont are participating in the tender.
