Technologies of the future for Kazakhstan's energy sector.

Kaspiy Neft JSC and the Kazakh-British Technical University are strengthening their cooperation through a strategic agreement, under which a unique Educational field and the Smart field Airankol laboratory equipped with advanced technologies were inaugurated on May 21, 2024, reports DKNews.kz .

The opening took place within the framework of the First International Conference on Energy and Enhanced Oil Recovery, which is taking place these days at KBTU. At the conference on the topic "Achievements of traditional energy in improving oil recovery. The progress of new energy technologies" is attended by speakers from Qatar, China, the USA, Sweden, France and Kazakhstan. This event provides not only a deep understanding of the current state of the energy industry, but also a clear indication of its future direction. It examines the importance and innovative methods of increasing oil recovery in the field of traditional energy, the prospects for new energy technologies and how advanced technologies that can contribute to the sustainable development of the energy sector.
The grand opening of the first Educational field and laboratory was led by Rector of the Kazakh-British Technical University Maratbek Gabdullin and Director General of JSC Caspian Oil Serik Tyran.

The Smart field Airankol laboratory will provide access to real operational data from the Airankol field and a training ground for theoretical classes, which will allow students not only to observe production processes, but also to actively participate in data analysis and monitoring. This unique combination of theory and practice will significantly improve the preparation of students for future professional activities and make KBTU graduates more in demand in the labor market. Serik Tyran, General Director of Kaspiy Neft JSC, demonstrated to those present at the opening how the field will work in real time, stressing that students will be able to use data from the real-life Ayrankol field:
"With this project, we want to show that there are digitized deposits in Kazakhstan where students can practice and study. We have presented all the data here in real time. Students can use this data to build their forecasts and models, work with data, make projects, and graduate theses. Our goal is to let students work with real numbers.…We want to show how technological and interesting the oil industry is and we want to attract talents to our field. We need strong specialists" Serik Tyran, General Director of JSC "Caspian Oil"
The training field includes drilling of five wells with different operating methods, which will provide students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and in-depth knowledge in the field of oil production. In addition, the entire process will be automated, which will allow students to learn how to work with modern production management systems. A special feature of the landfill is the simulation of the oil production process, which gives students a unique opportunity to feel every aspect of the production process, including physical interaction with equipment and materials. Rector of the Kazakh-British Technical University Manarbek Gabdullin stressed that students who will now study at the training ground will gain even more skills and knowledge only through research and observations of data:
"The main idea arose a year ago – to create a training ground for our students so that they could see in real time how the process of oil extraction is organized by various methods. The idea was realized thanks to our partners – JSC "Caspian Oil". The laboratory that we opened today is an innovation for Central Asia, as it is the only one where students can receive production data from the field in real time. The laboratory is equipped with software not only for data acquisition, but also for their processing and use for process modeling" Maratbek Gabdullin, Rector of the Kazakh-British Technical University
Students of the School of Energy and Oil and Gas Industry also attended the opening. Sardabek Rakhmanov, a 4th year student specializing in oil and gas business, shared his impressions:
"What is most interesting is that this space will help us to observe and operate production data from the Airankol field in real time, which significantly improves the educational process. We will also be able to enter our data and conduct various tests. I thank the management and the dean's office for creating such opportunities for us. I think this practice will help us improve our skills." Sardabek Rakhmanov, 4th year student in the specialty "oil and gas business"
The partnership of Caspian Oil JSC and KBTU, whose shareholder is the NNEF Public Foundation, sets a new standard for the integration of educational and industrial spheres, serving as an example for future initiatives.
"The combination of science and production is one of the priorities announced in the Address of the Head of State. In any industry, there is a need to update technologies. One of them is the oil industry" Akbota Kunshigarova, PR Manager of Caspian Oil JSC
This cooperation demonstrates the importance of synergy between universities and enterprises aimed at developing educational programs that meet the current requirements of the industry. This integration not only enriches the learning process with real practical content, but also stimulates innovative developments in the field, opening up new horizons for students and specialists.
