Sibur will start switching to its own hexene in 2025 from the installation at NKNH.

By the end of 2024, it is planned to complete the construction work, said the head of the company Mikhail Karisalov.

MOSCOW, March 13. Sibur may start using hexene from its own production facility at Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNH) in Tatarstan as early as 2025.

"By the end of this year, we will complete the construction work and enter commissioning," Mikhail Karisalov, the head of the company, told reporters.

In August 2022, Sibur announced plans to build a hexene production plant with a capacity of 50 thousand tons per year at Nizhnekamskneftekhim. According to Karisalov, this volume covers 125-130% of Sibur's hexene needs.

The hexene plant will be integrated into the ethylene consumption chain, using ethylene from the EP-600 complex under construction as a raw material.

Hexene is a semi-product for the production of base polymers and other petrochemical products. It is used in the production of high and low density polyethylene and is a mandatory component in the production of special grades of this polymer.
