The parties discussed the implementation of a project to build a polyethylene production plant with a capacity of 1.25 million tons in Atyrau region.
"The project is important for the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as its construction will allow the development of deep processing of hydrocarbons. Some progress has been made, but there is still a lot of intensive work ahead to move to the construction stage and, in the future, to launch the plant," A.Khasenov noted.
It should be noted that in April 2024, a trilateral protocol was signed, which officially completed Sinopec's entry into the project. The structure of the project participants is as follows: KazMunayGas – 40%, Sinopec – 30%, Sibur – 30%.
The design capacity of the future polyethylene production plant is 1.25 million tons per year. The enterprise will be built on the territory of the special economic zone in Karabatan in close proximity to the Tengiz field (Atyrau region).
